New Year 2025 Workshops

Now booking – One day Stained glass beginners workshop

This year has seen my skills in painting on glass starting to grow, with the invaluable support and skills advice of Dennis Eckersley of Design Lights, thank you so much Dennis. Painting on the glass plays with light coming through the glass, and with the colours, to add further dimensions and delights to stained glass windows. Have I mentioned how Stained glass is like magic, and eye candy for the soul.

I will be adding painting to commissions and continue to practise and play with this in wee free moments.

Stained glass workshops

I am running stained glass beginners workshops, roughly once a month on a Saturday. Below in Slide Show, are some of the students and pieces they have made from the One day workshops and the Courses.

Due to commissions and other commitments, I am not running the Introduction to Copper Foiling workshops for a short while.

The daytime 8 week course will continue to run, I love to watch people progress and confidence grow in these workshops, along with all the friendships and wonderful design ideas and concepts. Both courses are full in January through to March. Please do contact me to add you name to the list of interested people and I will let you know when places become available.

Stained glass workshops starting late May 2021

It’s a finger’s crossed’, feeling positive, that I will be able to start teaching stained glass workshops again from the 17th May ’20.

New Dates will go up on the website, once I have offered spaces first to those who had their workshops postponed. Keep an eye on the website or be the first to know and ask to be added to the mailing list. Contact Page.

In the meantime during the lock-downs one of the things I have been up to is making a few stained glass panels as commissions and for friends. The last one is a very belated birthday gift for a good friend, in hues of oranges and pinks, finally made with lock-down spare time on my hands. The aim was to use off cuts I already in the studio, a recycling theme. I love hand blown pink glass so much it was almost hard to part with.

The pink glass is made by the only hand-blown glass manufacturer I am aware of in England, English Antique Glass

Exceptional Times

Whilst the world is on hold, and we wait in self isolation to hopefully slow down the virus and give the NHS a fighting chance…

Lets look at some of the recent creations from workshops, courses and those who have carried on at home. Help keep our spirits up, maybe inspire each other to create and make, whilst I wait to re-schedule post-phoned workshops and courses.

I am starting to re-orientate how to precede with work and life in general.  Usually Artists are quite good at lateral thinking, but this, as for many, is being quite a challenge.  Talk about bringing communities together in shared experience.

It was almost funny discovering this Tuesday  lunchtime that the studio would close by 6pm having just had word that someone wanted a commission, Yay and Ooh!  I tried to decide in a short space of time whether I should attempt to set up a home studio or not (space issue’s, free roaming cat Dr Seuss).  I rushed around, my brain in muddy confusion, collecting tools and a choice of glass together, squishing it  into my small car. How much and what glass and lead would I need…..how long is a piece of string type question.  I decided to problem solve the lack of space, workbench and cat later, one problem at a time. Today is Saturday, I have a wee home studio, bench as well, set up and ready to go! My hope is I can take small commissions, depending on the suppliers still open online….watch this space or send me an email if interested.

I hope this slide show will  keep those creative juices flowing. Do email any lovely pictures of stained glass and copper foiling you have recently made or are making, I will post them onto the Facebook page to keep us all going.
