Courses and workshops in stained glass
Christmas and the New Year 2019 are around the corner with a host of new workshops and courses to do in Stained glass or Copper Foiling.
Including a NEW DAYTIME course on a Wednesday morning!
The Monday Evening courseĀ will be running as usual, with Stained glass for beginners weekend workshops in February and March.

A place has become available on the Introduction to Copper Foiling workshop on Saturday 1st December.
In one day you can learn the copper foiling skills to make your own glass sun-catcher to take home, usingĀ a lovely selection of colourful glass and template ideas to get creative with. You will learn how to cut glass to a template, use copper foil tape and how to solder your glass creation together.

After a glorious hot summer, maybe too hot at times, I had an end of summer trip to a very misty atmospheric Whitby to see the coast and golden sandstone after time spent in the glorious Lake and Peak districts, enjoying the sunshine and the heather turning purple. Now waiting for the Autumn colours to arrive, as a lot of us its get back into school and work routine.
If a creative colour fix is needed, there are places left on the Introduction to Copper Foiling day workshop, on the 21st October and 1st December. A chance to learn a new skill and play with beautiful colourful glass, following one of my patterns or forming your own small sun-catcher to take home.

The last workshop of spring/summer has run.Ā There are new dates in Autumn for workshops inĀ Introduction to Copper Foiling andĀ Stained Glass for Beginners Weekends. The Evening class is full, as all the previous students are continuing onto the next course for the Autumn term.
For the first time I am starting a waiting list for the Evening class, and considering running a daytime course in the new year. If you are interested in either please do let me know. Contact form.

Recently I have had a busy time on other community based creative art projects, working collaboratively with other organisation and artists. I thought I would share some of this. Do have a read and look at your leisure. May not be stained glass but hopefully still interesting soulful eye candy. Thank you.
The most recent is āTales Of Miles Plattingā. An area of Manchester right on the doorstep of my studio in AWOL Ancoats, with a rich history as a mill town. Sarah Spanton ā Director of Way marking project managed the project with the support of Miles Platting Age Friendly Neighbourhood Board.
A large community project looking to tackle social isolation, through an engaging programme of participatory events, gathering local residentās tales, memories and feelings of the area. These are held and celebrated within a big book hosting all the stories. Making the book was my part, along with running creative art sessions with residents to capture the visual essence of the Tales of Miles Platting. Poet and writer, Al Keogh ran creative writing workshops with local residents. A community wide celebration event was held at the end. It was a really interesting project to be involved in, meeting lots of lovely people. I now feel like I know Miles Platting, its history and people. I view Victoria Mill from my Ancoats studio window with much more familiarity now.
I am an associate Artist with ARC centre and gallery, running regular health and well-being works around Stockport.
In the centenary year of WW1, ARC centre and gallery won a commission to run project āWe are dreamersā commemorating the centenary. Excitingly I have been invited to join this project, leading participative workshops, creating artworks for exhibition which will be held at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, opening on November 11th. Please watch out for more information and opportunities for Stockport residents to become involved.

āA Pocketful of Treasureā, an R&D Arts council funded project, working with artist Rachel Ramchurn. We are continuing onto the next fund raising phase now, hoping to start in November.
āThe Chandelier of lost earringsā a collaborative award winning project, hosts over 3000 gifted lonely earrings, people donated their single earring that had been kept after the other of their pair has been lost and along with meaning personal stories.
